Chakalaka Ingredients

1 Whole Red Onion
1 Whole White Onion
3 Cloves Garlic
1/4 Ginger
2 Birds Eye Chilli
4 Medium Sized Carrots Grated
1 Red Bell Pepper
1 Green Bell Pepper
1 Yellow Bell Pepper
2 tbsp Olive Oil
1 tsp Nutmeg
1 tsp Tumeric
1 tbsp Curry
1 tbsp Paprika
1 tbsp Mango Chutney [Orange & Peach as alternative]
1 tbsp Tomato Purée
1 Maggi Cube
1 Tin Baked Beans
Fresh Parsley

Chakalaka Directions

  1. Add 2 tbsp of Olive Oil to a hot pan, and add your onions, garlic, ginger, birds eye chilli and fry for about 2 mins.
  2. Add salt, nutemg, tumeric, curry and paprika and fry for about 1min.
  3. Now it’s time to add your carrots and fry for about 2mins.
  4. Add the mango or orange and peach chutney, the bell peppers, tomato purée and the maggi cube. Fry for about 5mins.
  5. Now for the main part of the dish, add your baked beans and simmer for 5mins.

Homemade Garlic Bread Ingredients

3 Cloves Garlic
65g Butter
1 tbsp Chilli Flakes

Homemade Garlic Bread Directions

  1. Add garlic, parsley and blitz.
  2. Now add the butter, chilli flakes and blitz some more.
  3. Put the mixture into the microwave for about 10-15 sec.
  4. Now brush the paste on some bread or bread rolls.
  5. Put the garlic bread into the oven at 180ºC for about 10 mins.
